A Decade of Healing
Though a simple block of text lacks the weight of what I’m thinking and feeling, I wish to express my sorrow for those whose lives were lost in the attacks on this day ten years ago. My empathy goes to those who lost others.
My sincere gratitude and respect goes to those who died or risked their lives in the act of saving others and during the cleanup process. You folks make me proud to be an American, and we’re all chumps compared to you. Though the attacks were awful in many ways, in its wake we have seen in these people paragons of humanity.
Ten years later, we haven’t forgotten the loss and sacrifice. But ten years later, especially with all the work being done at Ground Zero, it is heartening to see how we’ve recovered, and how strong we’ve recovered. With the help of our friends here and abroad, I like to look at the site and think that, despite all our current economic and political problems, we’ve come out of this better and stronger.
